Receiptly ("we", "our", "the app") is a personal receipt tracking application. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Information We Collect

When you use Receiptly, we collect the following information:

• Account information: Your name, email address, and an encrypted password when you create an account.
• Receipt images: Photos of receipts you upload via the camera or photo library.
• Parsed receipt data: Store names, item names, prices, dates, and payment methods extracted from your receipt images using AI.
• Device authentication: We use Face ID / Touch ID for app lock purposes. Biometric data never leaves your device and is not sent to our servers.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide receipt scanning, categorization, and expense tracking features.
• To generate spending dashboards and analytics visible only to you.
• To authenticate your account and secure your data.
• To improve our AI categorization accuracy.

3. Data Processing & Third-Party Services

We use the following Microsoft Azure services to process your data:

• Azure Document Intelligence: To extract text and data from receipt images using OCR.
• Azure OpenAI (GPT-4o-mini): To categorize receipt items. Only item names and store names are sent — no images or personal information.
• Azure Cosmos DB: To store your account and receipt data.
• Azure Blob Storage: To store your receipt images.

We do not sell, share, or transfer your personal data to any third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.

4. Data Retention

Your data is stored as long as you maintain an active account. You can delete individual receipts at any time. If you wish to delete your entire account and all associated data, please contact us.

5. Data Security

• Passwords are hashed using bcrypt and never stored in plain text.
• All communication between the app and our servers uses HTTPS encryption.
• Authentication uses JWT tokens with automatic expiry.
• Receipt images are stored with time-limited access URLs.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access all your stored data (via the app's export feature).
• Delete your receipts at any time.
• Request deletion of your account and all associated data.

7. Children's Privacy

Receiptly is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
